Mendota Light

Mendota Light
Updated 9/11/97

The Mendota Light, Michigan, otherwise known as the Lac La Belle light, or the Bete Gris light, was built in 1896 replacing the older one which had been built in 1870. The operation of the light was discontinued in 1960 when the pier lights were established. The light was constructed to guide ships into Lac La Belle, where they would load copper from mines located in Delaware and Central Locations.
