From: Paul, Brett [OOC: Admin stuff - John (seanchai) is no longer a lurker in the game. Please do not send any further e-mail to him. Thanks! As always, any feedback you give is nice. Sorry it took so long to get this post out, but I wanted to wait for all to answer. We did not hear from John P., so the assumption is that he did nothing for the last post.] The situation: There are two lawmen standing in front of an open door. Both are armed with swords. Next to them (on the inside and to the left) are Steve and Lynn. Inside from them and back towards the center is the talking lawman. To the left of the men standing by the door (the men's right), there are two other lawmen on the floor who are getting back up and grabbing their swords. Brady yells, "Stop this! He's innocent!" as he charges forward, knowing that the lawmen won't understand a word he is saying. Dana fills her mind with images of wrestling cats (which I've seen - they can get pretty nasty!). Marshall holds out his hands and attempts to blow the lawmen out the door with a large gust of wind. Greg and Saif each make an attempt to confuse the lead man in their own ways. The lawmen react quickly when the room suddenly comes to life from nearly every angle. The two that were knocked down are back on their feet. Brady charges at the lead man, picking up the handle of some sort of tool, maybe an axe or sledge hammer. He swings it quickly as the lead man turns to face his attack. The handle of the tool makes contact with the man's hand with a loud "POP" - the sword that the leader was holding skitters across the floor to Brady's right. The man holds his hand gingerly, yelling something like, "Fur damp guh broken!" Brady is able to pull the man's arms behind him and subdue him. Any time his hand is hit, he winces in pain. Meanwhile, Dana crouches and crosses the space between her and the lawmen at the door very quickly -- on all fours! She "pounces" on the two standing at the door, pushing them outside. She moved so quickly and unusually for a human that the two couldn't even react to her approach! Outside, she is seen rolling one of the men over, his sword flying from his grasp. Angry, red scratches are seen down the man's forearm, his shirt torn wide open. The other man rolled backwards, stabbing himself in the leg. He is clutching his leg trying to keep it from bleeding his life away. The stab wound looks pretty nasty and looks to be bleeding a lot after the sword falls from the meat of his leg. Marshall, having seen Dana's movement, aborts his attempt at creating a wind to blow the men out the door. He felt a momentary buildup of energy which faded quickly. Since the lead lawman seems to have been taken care of, Greg and Saif focus on the other two across the room from them. Both stand with confused, dazed expressions on their faces, though it is difficult to tell if it is something Saif and Greg did or just because everyone in the room just "appeared" and kicked the snot out of everyone. Lynn puts her hands on Steve's shoulder and leaps up with her feet kicking both men squarely in their chins. They sprawl backwards into the sacks again. She grabs a nearby blade and cuts the rope that is binding Steve's hands. Steve says, "Oh, dis is very bad. Everybody - come this way." He moves towards the back of the store. Lynn pulls on his arm for a moment, and when he looks at her, he nods his head. She lets the man go and runs to the counter towards the back of the shop. You see her grabbing a metal box, about 8 inches by 4 inches by 6 inches. Steve is in the back of the store waiting for everyone. "Hurry," he says, "and grab anything you wish to take with you now. We have no time." He begins concentrating on something, his eyes closed, his brow sweating. All lawmen have been disarmed. Brady is holding the lead lawman tightly. Two others are groggy, lying on the sacks in the front of the store. One, out front, is being held by Dana, and the other outside man gets up and begins limping north, leaving a trail of blood behind him. [OOC: Let me know if there's anything in particular you wish to look for or take with you, assuming that you join Steve in the back room.] [Other OOC: Marshall, in case you're wondering why you got cut off, when Dana activated her skill, I rolled 01 (critical success), so she was able to act very quickly this round. Saif - You felt a connection between you and the lawman. Greg - You did not feel any sort of energy surge or anything similar. It would seem your ability did not activate.] ---------- From: Adequis[SMTP:Adequis@mindspring.com] First I will knock this guard out. Then, once again (although probably get rid of it in the future...) I would grab a sword, I would also attempt to figure out this neat weapon of arm breaking I had and possibly take that also. Since I don't think our welcome in this town is going to last terribly long, I think that I might grab some food stores on the way out. If possible in the time frame. "Well, that went well didn't it?" I state. "I think that are welcome is ending soon though so we might want to high tail it to a different region..." I follow Steve into the back room. ---------- From: Saif[SMTP:saif@xmission.com] >Steve says, "Oh, dis is very bad. Everybody - come this way." He moves >towards the back of the store. Saif ---------- From: Paul, Brett >Steve says, "Oh, dis is very bad. Everybody - come this way." He moves >towards the back of the store. Saif runs over and helps to secure the "lawmen" before heading back. "Can any of you chase that other guy down?" he asks. Dana, coming back into the store from outside, is carrying the sword from the lawman she "tackled." She says, "He won't get too far too fast." Indeed, through the window, you can see that he is limping, stumbling, and not moving quickly. As you watch, he falls onto the ground. Nobody comes to his aid. You *do* see several people in the distance, but their attention seems to be focused more on what was happening in front of the town hall. Dana suggests taking the swords from the other lawmen before they regain consciousness. "I'm sure he'll be back with his friends soon enough." "We will have enough time to escape," says Steve. So this is a general store, right? Should we be thinking like frontier west time frame? Pretty much. Let me know what you think would be useful, and I'll tell you if it's here. Steve doesn't know of any unlicensed particle accelerators. Dana grabs a blanket and lays it on the floor. She begins to fill it with canned food, a can-opener (she assured me that this was very important), some lamp oil and an accompanying lamp. She takes the bundle of supplies and moves to where Steve is standing, looking at him expectantly for further instructions. - Brett ---------- From: gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com[SMTP:gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com] > From Brett_Paul@kne.com Mon Nov 24 13:18:50 1997 > Dana, coming back into the store from outside, is carrying the sword > from the lawman she "tackled." If noone else has done anything, I'll grab some clean linen or cotton cloth and make bandages for any of the lawmen that are unconscious. Don't want them to die or anything and compound the problem. After all, they were probably innocent of intending harm--just doing what they thought was right. > Pretty much. Let me know what you think would be useful, and I'll tell > you if it's here. Steve doesn't know of any unlicensed particle > accelerators. I've got my backpack that we can fill, as well. A couple more water bottles/skins would probably be a good idea. If there are any math books lying around, I'll try to grab one or two of them. Most other books are going to be written in a language that I can't read. :( Greg ---------- From: Saif[SMTP:saif@xmission.com] >>So this is a general store, right? Steve doesn't know of any unlicensed particle >accelerators. Looking around the store Saif thinks to himself "OK, priorities. Food, clothing, and shelter." He lets his eyes rove around the store as he develops a mental checklist. First of all Saif looks for something to put this all in. Preferably a backpack of some kind. Then, seeing Dana and (I think) Greg grabbing food, he looks for and grabs any waterskins. Also I'll make sure we get any jerky and hard candy available. Clothing. Then he looks for something like ponchos or raincoats. (What would be great is one of those Aussie full length leather coats, but I'm not holding my breath ) "Everybody might want to grab one of these" he says if he finds some, grabbing one his own size. He briefly considers looking for boots, but decides there is not enough time. Shelter. If there is a tent around he'll take that (as long as it is rolled up and ready to go), otherwise a couple sheets of canvas and plenty of rope. "You might want to toss a few more blankets in there" he recommends to Dana. Also if there are any matches he'll take all of them. Barring that he'll try to find some flint and steel. Finally a hammer (mallet will do) and a small saw. Finally he'll do a quick sweep for any books that might be around, even such things as log or supply books. Catalogs would be great too. Anything written in the local language. Oh, and any nice hunting-type knives? K-bar like? He'll grab one of those if he sees one while looking for everything else. (OOC: Just like back at survival school. Give me a parachute, some nylon cord, a knife, and some flint and I'll build you a two story house, complete with air conditioning. ) Stuffing all of that (or as much as he can) into the backpack he hopefully found (otherwise just make up a bundle with some canvas) Saif hurries over to the doorway. "Sorry, but this might be our only chance in a while to stock up on supplies. I'm ready to go." The lawmen's injuries consist of: Leader - a broken hand, a large headache, both compliments of Brady. The two lying on the sacks were apparently knocked unconscious. The one lying in the street (under Dana) has a nice scratch down his arm and perhaps some abrasions on his back, and the last has a pretty nasty wound in his leg, but you'd have to chase after him to bandage him, and considering the recent events, I don't think he'll stop for you. >If there are any math books lying around, I'll try to grab one or two of them. >Most other books are going to be written in a language that I can't read. :( No math books here. :) - Brett
