From: Paul, Brett Subject: Bamf [30] Revelation [OOC: Well, we heard from everyone except for Jeff. Any suggestions for "writing him out of the story?" This is your story, too. :) ] Many questions were asked, and though it may not make exact conversational sense, I'll try to answer each in turn, figuring that had a normal conversation taken place, these questions would have been answered in time. This type of stuff is *much* easier face-to-face. :) Saif: "We noticed his image on several coins we were given." Steve: "His image on coins? Do you still have the coins? Can I see one?" Saif OOC: I'm not sure if I still have any of those, but if I do I'll hand them to him. GM OOC: You have 8 "pennies", 2 "quarters" and one "dollar." The dollar was the one with Medizar's face on it. Saif hands Steve one of the coins. He looks at the face on the coin, and says, "This is not Medizar. Medizar is a dark, raven-looking man with beady eyes and a brooding appearance." GM: You still think that the face on the coin resembles Medizar exactly. Greg: "First question: Is the geography the same as our Earth? This place resembles the Carolina coast an awful lot. Steve: "The geography is not really similar. I imagine this world is much smaller than our Earth." Greg: "Do we just have an alternate history?" Steve: "Our histories are oddly similar in many regards." Greg: "Second question: What are the other refugees from our Earth trying to do? Steve: "Well, given our particular, um, 'talents,' we are working on a way to use the Sphere to return us to our homes on Earth. This place is nice, but it is definitely not home." John: "What is this 'Sphere'? Can you tell us any information about it? Steve: "The Sphere is, as far as we have determined, some sort of powerful entity that takes people from their own world into another. Perhaps, though, it is merely a tool of a more powerful entity." Greg: "Did you all arrive at once, like we did?" Steve: "We arrived pretty close to the same time. Gwen and Bill didn't think they even left their own world, since they came in to this world in a place identical to where they came from." Greg: "What did the people on the island maintain record of your progress toward?" Steve: "Our way back home." Greg: "Have the members of your group developed any form of paranormal power. So far, all of us have. I'd find it odd that none of yours have." Saif winces. Steve: "Well, not so much paranormal power as just a 'talent.' For example, I can detect when the Bamf sphere activates in this world, a 'trick' that I know Medizar possesses." Greg: "Fourth question: What was the significance of the plaque on the lighthouse?" Steve: "Well, Bill was a historian, and had that plaque made in honor of Pharos, the lighthouse at Alexandria. He had the plaque made at the engraver's shop across town." Greg: "Fifth question: Who is Medizar?" Steve: "Medizar is among those of us who came to this world, but as soon as he found that he had power, he started trying to take over." Greg: "What is he striving toward?" Steve: "You've heard of Hitler, yes? I was once asked, when I was in school, 'If you could identify Adolph Hitler as a youth, would you kill him?' I could never come up with a good answer for that, myself. Would it have changed history? Would it have prevented the holocaust? "Medizar wants to be the Hitler of this world. But he has one edge on Hitler - in addition to being a very charismatic person, he has these 'tricks.' " Greg: "How can we stop him?" Steve: "I wish I could answer that. You see, we (referring to the refugees) don't know anything about him. He arrived at the same time as the rest of us, but not in the same place. It's almost as if some supernatural being has picked us for a game of planetary chess, and I feel like a pawn." Greg: "Do you have any form of textbooks in this town? Physics, Chemistry, Biology?" Saif: "Are there any book in town that you know of that are written in both the local language and a language that might have been spoken on earth? Say, Latin, one of the romance languages, or Arabic?" Steve: "You should be able to find some texts for many of these at the library." Steve points towards the north. Brady: "So, is Medizar human?" Steve: "We believe he was, at least before he came into this world, but has attained his 'tricks' and is trying to make himself immortal." John: "These 'tricks' you refer to...do you know what their nature is? Are they true power, or are they tricks in the true sense such as a magician can perform?" Steve: "All that I have seen would indicate that he has true magical power. I caught him one night in the market square. I watched him drain a small boy of his life by biting him, like a vampire would. All that remained was the collapsed husk of the boy's body. I tried to stop him, but when I attacked him, I passed right through him. Then, before my very eyes, the boy's body sunk into the ground and disappeared. I was very nearly tried for murder, as members of the town guard had seen me. They said they saw me, and saw me kill the boy, but there was no body. I am very lucky to be alive." Brady: "Can we reach him and challenge him? I don't like people playing with me, nor do I like evil people..." Steve: "I echo your feelings about not liking evil people, and Medizar is definitely evil. As far as reaching him, we know that he has built himself a keep somewhere to the west of us, but we have not found it." Saif: "Saif also watches the exchange between the two Dana's with interest." Dana, hearing all that is said as if everyone is in another room, walks slowly over towards the girl, trying not to frighten her. Dana: "Hello." Younger Dana: "Hullo." Dana looks closely at the younger Dana, looking for - and finding - a familiar mole, a scar, facial features that are very familiar. The younger Dana returns her glances, wondering at the sameness between the two. Dana asks, "Have you lived in this town long?" The younger Dana wordlessly shakes her head. As if in a trance, the younger Dana reaches out her hand, very tentatively, and touches Dana's face. Leaving her hand where it is, she opens her mouth in amazement. "You... are me," she says quietly, almost inaudibly. Dana: Glancing about the room, assuming this is a part of their home rather than part of the store, I look for anything familiar or indicating similar interests to my own. GM: This is indeed the back room of the store. If you ask, John: Have we just seen our first 'TWIN'? (i.e. are there more to come?) Just wondering... :) GM: I'm not tellin'! :) Marshall: I'd also like to look carefully at Steve and see if, with the addition/removal (can't remember which :-) ) of a beard, or something along the same lines, he'd look like one of the members of our group. GM: You don't notice any resemblance. Someone knocks on the front door of the shop. - Brett ---------- From: Animalz[SMTP:dharrod@mindspring.com] Subject: RE: Bamf [30] Revelation Dana, after (somewhat) getting over the fact that she just met herself in a younger version, joins the group conversation.... > Saif hands Steve one of the coins. The next question is, why would the Sphere bamf in Medizar so that we can stop him? I agree--it sounds like a chess game. It makes sense that there's a good guy and a bad guy. I would attribute us to the good guy's team, since Brady's here. That means Medizar was pulled in by the bad guy. The bad guy has other minions, too--the ghost ship, at least--that Medizar seems to be in league with. His suit jacket, vest, tie, and top hat are blacker than the night. His skin is a pale white that seems to glow in the star and fire light. He carries a black cane that seems almost to absorb the light around it. He begins to speak with a voice as smooth as silk, as deep as a canyon, that comes from all around you at once.
