From: Paul, Brett Subject: Bamf [27] Genesis Welcome (back) to Bamf. It is early morning in the town that you have found. The people are in the streets listening to some sort of address being given at the town hall. Not understanding a word that is being said, you decide now would be a good time to explore the town more thoroughly. Before getting into the specific shops, etc., I will answer a couple questions that remain. Brady does not have the sword any more. In fact, you did not see it as you were leaving the jail. Brady does, however, still have his backpack. Marshall has his pack as well. Greg has been researching an appearance alteration type spell, but has met with limited success so far. He seems to be able to give himself dimples, but that's about it. :) Across from the town hall is located an apothecary and a cheese shop. Not being hungry at the moment, you move on to the west, where more activity seems to be taking place. At the next corner, near the Theater and the jail, you turn left (South) and head towards the general store, which is open now. The general store is across the street from a stable, and from the sounds you hear coming from the south, near a blacksmith as well. As you enter the general store, you see some fairly typical farm implements, some seeds, lanterns, fuel for the lanterns, tobacco, candy, rope, and so on (if you are looking for something specific, let me know). The level of technology that you seem to find is that of about the early 1900's in America. The store owner, a short, thin, balding man that looks to be in his fifties, approaches you all. He is dressed in a sleeveless t-shirt and dress pants, both covered by an apron that is smeared with soil and some grease. At first, he says, "Darfish een..." At the sight of you all, however, his mouth seems to dry up, and he stammers for a moment. Finally, very slowly and uncertainly, he says, "Ah, uhm, can... I... hell... pew? Wha... chew... want?" He points around the store with an open palm, then looks back to you. From his pockets, he withdraws a small piece of paper and a pen of some sort. - Brett ---------- From: gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com[SMTP:gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com] Subject: Re: Bamf [27] Genesis > Greg has been researching an appearance alteration type spell, but has > met with limited success so far. Then the effectiveness of your spell must be *really* limited. :) See if you can make them go away..... >>Dana<< ---------- From: gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com[SMTP:gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com] Subject: RE: Bamf [27] Genesis "Ummm, guys, we don't have any dinero..." A lady in a carriage threw some at us as me, Saif and Marshall" (OOC: I think that was the group that walked into town first... I don't have much previous mail available to me on this account.) "How else do you think we paid for room and board last night?" >>Dana<< ---------- From: Adequis[SMTP:Adequis@mindspring.com] Subject: RE: Bamf [27] Genesis Oh well I will hold onto my Carabingers, unless ofcourse I can get something REALLY cool for them.... We are strangers here. Will you please help us? Will you please answer some questions for us?" Saif will then ask the following questions. He'll take it slowly, not wanting to frustrate the man or make him impatient. He often thanks the man for the help he is giving us. First, he gestures to the paper and pen. If the man hands them to him he will draw a rough map of the world, with the six main continents (most detail in Europe and North America). "The world?" he asks. If the man responds positively he asks "Where are we? Point please? What is this place called?" (Asks for country and town names.) "The language you speak, where is it from? The language we speak, where is it from?" (Again gesturing to the map.) Then, the important questions. "Where did you learn to speak this language? What is it called? I want to learn your language. Are there any books with both of our languages in them? Dictionaries or books to learn your language or mine? Where could I find these books?" "Who else in this pretty town speaks this language? We wish to avoid trouble, so we need to speak with people to explain our presence here." If the man answers all these questions Saif thanks him profusely, even trying a danka-shien (or whatever). If I can find a recorder (German: Blockflute), I might be able to play something and do the minstrel thing. > Re: the shopkeeper -- it seems Saif has covered things quite well. Well, my real instrument is French Horn, but chances of finding a good valved horn that's not going to cost us an arm and a leg is pretty slim--especially since this seems like a frontier town. Then again, if there are any musicians, maybe I can introduce the idea. :) Could be fun. Recorder is probably easier to find. Greg ---------- From: Adequis[SMTP:Adequis@mindspring.com] Subject: RE: Bamf [27] Genesis I can play bass guitar quite well, and hack through a guitar if need be.... I can't play any musical instruments, but I can sing tolerably well. As for "shopping," I'd like to see if I can find any texts in Latin (or something really similar to it). I'm hoping that most histories, texts on magical powers, etc. will be in Latin. I'd also like to see if I can find anything else that my be relate to our powers (mine especially, of course :-) ).
