From: Paul, Brett Subject: Bamf [24] Wandering I assume that you don't go into the jail cell, and have rather begun looking more around the town, hoping to find more clues to where you are. Quickly, you notice many shops in town. Here is the small area of the town that you have been able to look through, and the shops you have found (use non-proportional font): A = Apothecary J = Jail B = Barber's shop K = Bakery C = Cheese shop L = Locksmith D = Museum M = Church E = Engraver's shop N = Cemetery F = Coffee House S = Saloon G = Gallows T = Theater H = A House W = Town Hall I = General Store X = Stables :.: = Fencing | == | = Road ........ : NNNN : : NNNN : :......: ...... : MM : H H H : MM : H H H H H | ================ | H TT | | S H | | H E H L H TT | | SS A H C H B | | H H K =========== =============== =========== entered here H H H H JJ | | H H WWWW G H | | F H H H JJ | | XX D WWWW H | | H H H H H II | | XX D H | | H I hope this map helps you guys out a bit. It's certainly easier than explaining where everything is. :-) Most food-type places are open (i.e., the cheese shop, coffee shop, saloon). Other places (museum, engravers, etc.) are not. [Just to let you all know, Saif will be temporarily away, and I will be running him during that time (a few weeks). Also, I did not hear from Marshall or John, so I didn't post anything new and exciting (yet). Also, you may have noticed a new addition to the "to" list - Seanchai. He's a lurker.] Where do you want to go? What do you want to do? You're pretty hungry, even after the loaf of bread. At least you all have some money... :-) - Brett ---------- From: Paul, Brett Subject: Bamf [24] Rotting in a ?German? jail? Greg has attempted to communicate using his books and an application of his talents, but for some reason, it does not seem to work. Brady attempts to learn German through prayer, but that, similarly, has no effect. Jeff tries to act his way through, but only gets odd looks from the jailer who has come in to check on you all. He may have looked perplexed when he left, but he did return with a small tray of food for you all - meats, cheese, bread, and some water to drink. It is enough of a meal for you all to get full from. After a while, he returns and takes the tray without a word, but with an odd look in Jeff's direction. He opens an adjacent jail cell and leaves it open. Inside the jail, you see a couple cots, similar to the one Brady will be lucky enough to sleep on. He seems to be trying to make you all comfortable as much as he can. [Just to let you all know, Saif will be temporarily away, and I will be running him during that time (a few weeks). I will be working on potential poems should the need arise for quick escape (per Brady's suggestion). Since others are attempting to communicate and Latin et. al. has failed to work, I will make an attempt to speak with our 'hosts' in Spanish and Japanese. Also, I will test my ability to leave this building. I will not (at least for the moment) go any further than perhaps 50 yards away from the building, but I just want to see if anyone stops me from leaving. If they do, I will offer no resistance. -- John Proulx ---------- From: Paul, Brett Subject: RE: Bamf [24] Rotting in a ?German? jail? I will test my ability to leave this building. The guard outside the jail cells sees you come out of the area where you were and move towards the door. You try the door, but it is locked. When you turn around, the guard has already gotten up and moved towards you, keys in hand. He lets you out and, as you are walking away from the door, you hear the door being locked behind you. Ahead, and across the street, you recognize the others - Dana, Saif, Marshall. - Brett ---------- From: Paul, Brett Subject: RE: Bamf [24] Rotting in a ?German? jail? >Since others are attempting to communicate and Latin et. al. has failed >to work, I will make an attempt to speak with our 'hosts' in Spanish and >Japanese. I'm taking this to mean that my talents do not run in this direction at all... Quite correct. Nice misinterpretation of the clue, though. Well orchestrated. The basic upshot is to try to find an application of talent. I'm going to study the text, trying to come up with an idea of how to change Brady's external form so that he looks like a member of the indigenous population. Greg P.S. If I think I figure something out, I'll start looking for a way to increase and decrease sizes. That might be more an aspect of Geometry, though. I'll check on both the genetics and geometry books for that. ---------- From: gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com[SMTP:gdinkelm@ccs.lmco.com] Subject: Re: Bamf [24] Rotting in a ?German? jail? > From Brett_Paul@kne.com Tue Sep 2 20:31:11 1997 > > Greg has attempted to communicate using his books and an application of > his talents, but for some reason, it does not seem to work. "Well, fancy meeting you all here. I certainly hope you've had better luck with the natives than we. If you don't know already, they've locked Brady in a cell in the building. We know it has something to do with the sword he was carrying, but nothing more specific. Greg suspects they may know it belongs to our zombie acquaintances, but we don't have any proof of that. In any case, he, Jeff and I seem to be free to come and go as we please. We've been putting our heads together coming up with potential escape plans if the situation becomes dire. Yeah, we saw you guys get hauled in. We were hoping to find out from the crows what's going on but haven't learned much yet... other than something about a murder (or so we think). I *really* hope Brady isn't being accusedof muder. That could be a bit sticky to get out of. <
